prices for concerts

why is it so exspensive to see a show. i know that production cost alot between gas and electric alone, but give us a break. we have todrive to the shows using gas and we have to pay utilitys also.we have to pay for parking and forget concessions they are through the roof. half the time i concider the value of the artist and then decide if i want to pay all that money to be entertained. i try to see local shows they are less exspensive and sometimes more entertaing. i hope in the future that these artist scale it down use smaller venues and play in a more diverse route choosing off bbeat places to play suprising and helping the local economy and bringing culture to areas that need some inspiration. discuss!!!!

My goodness now here's a topic that can take some time to discuss... let's go back a few years - like 20 years and recall how much a ticket was then - $25?

This is a pet peeve of mine as well.
And sadly, it seems like the old time artists are the worst offenders. I don't know if it's because they think they may need to retire at any second, or they are trying to make up for the ticket prices of their youth, when they were $10, and the band only saw profit from merch sales.

There is an argument for bigger show, higher price, but I would like to see some loyalty from the artists towards the fans once in a while, instead of the other way around.

There are a few groups who have taken a stand on this, but I literally can't go to many concerts anymore because of the price. The fans need to speak by withholding their dollars.

Another part of the problem? TICKET BROKERS! I swear they all have deals with the ticket agencies like ticketmaster, even though it's illegal. How else can this happen: I am eligible for pre-sale status, either through AMEX or being in a "fan club", when I log on at 9:00 sharp the only tickets available are in the last 15 rows with obstructed views! emoticon
